Everett was the son of Richard B. and Sadie Purington,(nee Hoitt) the brother of Richard, Muriel, Robert,Shirley, Pricilla and Susan. The husband of Alice Abbie Purington, (nee Pray) and the father of Kirk Everett, Diane Lee, and Bryan Purington, and at the time of his death, the grandfather of Kristen Alice Purington. Since his death, he is grandfather to Kendra Elizabeth Purington and Kirk Everett Purington Jr. and Great grandfather to Katie Sue Logue, Alex Everett Logue, Emily Madison Dionne, Cameron James Dionne, Bryan Charles Dionne, and Silas Oliver Purington. Everett grew up during the "Depression", but according to him, he never know it, as he grew up on the family farm. Living on the farm gave him his work ethic which would carry him through the rest of his life. At the age of seventeen, he enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he went on to become the rank of Staff Sargent, and learned to drive Tanks during the Korean Conflit. It was during the war that his Tank got hit, and he was injured and flown to Germany for hospitalization. This injury would effect him for the rest of his life. Prior to being discharged, he was a "Drill Sgt. at Fort Dix. He married the one and only love of his life, "the girl who lived just up the road" Alice Abbie Pray on December 9th, 1952. Together they bought the old "Locke" farm on upper Tolend Road, and began raising his family....as well as chickens, horses, cows, and vegetables. They gave each other a story that has no end. He also work at the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard along with his farm duties. He retired from farming in 1966 when he built the "new" house across the field, and retired from the Navy Yard in 1975, just two short years before his death. He loved family, he enjoyed hard work, he became the State Commander of the D.A.V. succeeding his brother Bob and was very instrumental in getting "Veterans plates" for drivers who were veterans for the state of N.H.. He was a 32 degree Mason, being a member in good standing with the Moses Paul Lodge #96 F&AM, he was a Dover Special police officer for a short time, and he loved his family, his Country, and his God! (with whom he told me often, he had a personal relationship with). Everett was a direct decendent of George Puddington (Purington), who sailed from Tiverton, England on the ship, the "Pied Cow". ...and landed in what is now known as "Cow Cove" in South Berwick. Everett was only 44 years old when he passed, but he packed an aweful lot of living in his short life. He had a lot of childhood friends with whom he remained loyal and friends with. But his best friend, was also his brother Robert (Bob). They both loved deer hunting and trout fishing, and both built Camps in Conway, N.H. for hunting "get-aways" (and of course family vacations...) He taught me many things, to always do the "right" thing, love and respect your mother, family, live every day to it's fullest, and to love and trust the word of God, and to seek him everyday!
