"HICKORY, N.C. — Ruth M. Alexander passed away suddenly March 18, 2011, at the age of 88 (her favorite stockcar number and driver).
Mrs. Alexander was the daughter of the late Earl and Addie Tenney.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Katherine M. Walker, and her grandson, Jefferey Gray.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Rosa Gray of Maryland; her son, James “Jimmy” Gray of Turtletown, Tenn.; her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Ray Bunting of Longview (Hickory), N.C.; her daughter and son-in-law, JoAnne and David Simmons of Union; her daughter, Marion Gray of Turtletown, Tenn.; her son-in-law, Keith Walker of New Gloucester; her daughter-in-law, Suzanne Jackson of Maryland; her stepdaughter, Dolly Alleva of Maryland; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; her niece, Sharon Brown; her nephew, Tyrone Pease; one great-niece; two great-nephews; her very special dear friend, Cindy Cline of Glen Burnie, Md.; and also her beloved Poodle, Joey.
A memorial service will be held in April in East Union.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials in memory of Ruth M. Alexander to be made to Frye Regional Medical Center, c/o Frye Heart Center, 420 North Center St., Hickory, NC 28601."
