She died at the Spring Valley Health Care Center. She was the daughter of Christopher L. and Emelie (Johnson) Blegen, born in Gilman Township. She was baptized at Gilman Lutheran Church and confirmed by Rev. Berven. She was a long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley.
She graduated from Spring Valley School in 1920. She attended River Falls Normal School for two years and taught school for three years at Centerville and then two years during WWII in Spring Lake.
On June 26, 1928, she married Harold K. Olson at Stillwater, Minn.
After his death, she traveled and studied, attending several Elderhostels at various college campuses. She was a member of the Spring Valley American Legion Auxiliary and served as county president for two years. She was also active at St. John's, where she taught Sunday School and served as president of the Ladies Aid. She also served on the Spring Valley Board.
She was survived by: her sons and daughter, Harold K. (Dorothy) of Eau Claire, Gayle (Janice) of Zumbrota, Minn., and Mary Louise (Craig) Olson of River Falls; 11 grandchildren, Steve (Debbie) Olson, Julie Seeley, Karen (Tom) Buelow, Chris (Diane) Olson, David (Robyn) Olson, Nancy Olson, Susan (Jim) Babler, Laura (Todd) Gathje, Mary (Jay) Turvold, Trygve Olson and Kjersti Olson; 15 great-grandchildren; five sisters-in-law, Olga Blegen, Thalia (Jay) Brooks, Mardell (Richard) Friedrich, Bernice Olson and Jeanne (Don) Bailey; one brother-in-law, Jay (Mabel) Olson; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Harold; eight brothers and four sisters, Alfred, Peter, Edward, Joseph, Elmer, Oscar, Henry and Carl Blegen, Julia Hanson, Ida Rush, Alma Taylor, infant sister Clara and infant grandson Scott Olson.
