Steven B. Cannon, 51, of Parsons died at 2:50 a.m. at Elmhaven East nursing home. He had been in failing health for the past year.
He was born Aug. 7, 1953, in Neodesha to Benjamin G. and Helen M. (Lever) Cannon. He lived in several cities with his family while his father built missile bases. He moved with his family to Parsons, where he graduated from Parsons High School in 1971. He was a heavy equipment operator in construction and had worked with his brother building bridges for 18 years in the Kansas City area. He lived in Iola before returning to Parsons several years ago.
He was a member of the Friendship Southern Baptist Church in Parsons. He had also been a minister for the Universal Life Church. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 101. He was a tattoo artist, enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing and reading the Bible. He was married to Marcia Hollenback. They later divorced.
Survivors include two sons, Shane C. of Edwardsville and Jesse of Buckner, Mo.; a daughter, Coty N. of Buckner, Mo.; a grandson, Michael Cannon of Buckner, Mo.; his mother, Helen Brinkman of Parsons; a brother, David of Parsons; and two sisters, Ronna M. Cloud of Iola and Donita F. Boone of Parsons. His father preceded him in death on July 1, 1974.
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home with the Rev. Dennis Wildman officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery. THe family will recive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funerl ahome.
Memorials are suggest to Friendship Southern Baptist Church and may be left at the funeral home, 405 Main, Parsons,Ks.
