WARREN - Edward J. Cross, 85, of Warren, died at 10:52 a.m. Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at St. Joseph Health Center.

He was born Aug. 15, 1924, in Parkman, the son of Emmett and Delma Milhone Cross.

A Trumbull County resident for most of his life, Ed was a graduate of Bristol High School.

In 1944, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Pacific Theater, attaining the rank of corporal. He participated in action in Tinian and Okinawa.

Ed founded Cross Office Supplies in Warren in 1959 and worked there until his retirement in 1986.

He enjoyed golf and traveling.

His wife of 48 years, Mary Louise Parry Cross, whom he married in 1946, preceded him in death in 1994. He also was preceded in death by a son, James, who was killed in action during the Vietnam War.

He is survived by two sons, John (Shirley) of Howland and Bill (Cindy) of Canfield; and seven grandchildren, Jason (Kimberly) Cross of Columbus, Danielle (Justin) Everett of Vienna, Eric Cross of Columbus, Garrett Cross of Columbus, Brayden Cross of Canfield, Melanie Kiffner of Rockville, Md., and Jennifer Cross of Columbus. He also leaves four great-grandchildren, Allysa Cross, Jenna Cross, Ebin Everett and Carson Ellis Kiffner; a sister, Eloise (Robert) Garner of Cortland; and his close companion, Eleanore Francis.

Private services will be held today at Roberts-Clark Chapel. Interment will be in Crown Hill Burial Park.
