Zora Isabella McAfee, 92, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 1998, at Jerseyville Manor Nursing Home in Jerseyville. Born Jan. 27, 1906, in Brighton, she was a daughter of the late John Arthur and Zora Elizabeth (Cairns) Bauer. A registered nurse for Southwestern School District, she was a lifetime member of the First Presbyterian Church in Brighton, where she was organist for more than 40 years. She was also a member of the Brighton Civic League. She married Claud W. McAfee June 25, 1933 in Kampsville. He died Nov. 26, 1972. Surviving are two daughters, Jeannine McNear of Brighton and Kathryn Johnson of Toledo, Ohio; two sons, David McAfee of Mount Pulaski and James C. McAfee of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Deatherage of Evergreen Park Ill. She was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Ziegenbein. There will be no visitation. Private funeral services will be held Friday at Targhetta Funeral Home in Brighton. Memorial services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Brighton. Burial will be in the Brighton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church Endowment Fund.
