Doug Brown, known to many as a longtime weather forecaster for KTRK Television, died Thursday morning, the 17th of January 2013, at the age of 79.
Brown was born and grew up in the Central Texas city of Brady. He worked for Armed Forces Radio in Korea and graduated with a degree in theology from Baylor University.
He began his career in television in 1958 at KRGV in Weslaco, taking a crash course at the University of Texas to learn about meteorology. He then worked at KWTX in Waco before coming to Houston in 1972. He spent the bulk of his 50-year career in television at Channel 13, where he worked from 1976 through 2008, most of that time as a fixture on the station.
In 2008, at age 75, Doug retired from Channel 13. His time was spent with his wife, his family, and beloved friends. He relished his role as a grandfather. He was interested in the arts and was an avid sports fan. Doug was a man of many interests. He loved to read, golf, bicycle and spent countless hours working in the community.
Doug's greatest passion was bringing joy into the lives of everyone he met. His goal and the legacy he hoped to leave was to share his love of God with others. Doug's connection to Jesus Christ was deep and everlasting.
