On 1 January 1884, Lyman Eby married Mary Abigail Hart in Stephenson Co., IL. Soon after, they removed to Iowa. With the exception of two years spent in Kanapolis, Kansas (1887-1889), Lyman and Mary spent the rest of their lives in Iowa. Lyman worked as a hardware store clerk in the following Iowa locations: Harlan, Panama, Sutherland, Peterson, Bradgate, Reinbeck, and Waterloo. Lyman Eby retired in 1929 from the C. M. Berkley Hardware Store in Waterloo, IA.
Lyman and Mary Eby were the parents of three sons: Norman P., Joseph L., and Charles W.
Lyman was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, who died 5 May 1921.
