Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Second Lieutenant in the Union Army and entered the service at Jacksonville, Pennsylvania. He was awarded the CMOH as a Private in Company F, 85th Pennsylvanian Infantry for action on August 16, 1864 at Deep Bottom, Virginia. His citation reads "Capture of battle flag."
