Son of William Adams
Fought in the Mexican-American War of 1846-1847. In the Civil War he served for 3 years as a corporal in Company E of the 6th Regiment Ohio Infantry from 1861 to 1864.

George Washington Adams died in Johnstown at the home of Emanuel Pebly, whom he was visiting, August 9. Decedent, who was seventy-five years old on the 22d of last February, was born near Hollidaysburg. In early life he was a stage driver. He worked on the old Portage railroad and served in both the Mexican and the civil war. In later years he managed a farm near Ryot, this county, where he was well know and highly respected. Ten months ago he went to Dale,Cambria county, to make his home with Albert Shrader. Mr. Adams was a member of the United Brethren church. His remains were brought to Bedford county and interred in the U. B. ts cemetery Fishertown.
