Barbara Ann (Vokoun) Baker passed from this life on January 17, 2013 to a life free of Alzheimer's. Even as dementia took her mind the essence of the loving person she was could still be seen in her caring and concern for the needs of others. She lived her life selflessly and never denied someone in need. Her faith in God was strong. She was a shining example to all who knew her and were touched by her.

Barbara was born on December 3, 1933 in Marshalltown, Iowa to William A. and Edla (Warren) Vokoun.

She graduated from Marshalltown High School and went on for training in St. Louis to be a Medical Technician.

Barbara was an exemplary mother, mentor and friend. She enjoyed the company of friends and was not shy about making new ones. She enjoyed watching birds, growing flowers and plants and travel, with multiple trips to Europe and the Caribbean.

She is survived by her children; Tim (Virginia) Barker, Jocelyn (Larry) Reever, and David (Kristen) Barker; long-time friend Ceasar DeLeon, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Barbara's cremains will be added to the Memory Garden at St. Luke's Episcopal Church at a future date.

In lieu of memorial contributions, the family asks that all those so inclined commit random acts of kindness in remembrance of Barbara

Arrangements by The Cremation Society of Iowa.
