Pastor Wallace Haynes Carrier, age 95, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013.

He was born June 12, 1917 in Bristol to Walter F. & Belle Wassom Carrier. He graduated from Bristol High School, Carson-Newman College, and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY. Wallace worked 51 years with Baptist Churches (1941 thru 1991--as a staff person at First Baptist Church in Clinton and Baptist Tabernacle, Louisville, KY. He was pastor of First Baptist Church in Hartsville; First Baptist Church in Rockwood; Harrodsburg Baptist Church in Harrodsburg, KY; and Mill Creek Baptist Church in Nashville.

In His pastorates, he led the churches in erecting new buildings, enlarging their organizations, enhancing church music, and significantly increasing their support of missions and ministry. He also served as a design editor of Adult Bible Study materials at the Baptist Sunday School Board, in Nashville.

Preceded in death by an infant son, December 19, 1951; parents, Walter F. and Belle Wassom Carrier; four brothers and four sisters.

Wife of 63 years Anne Galloway Carrier of Nashville; Son Wallace H. Carrier, Jr. and wife, Bonny of Franklin, KY.; Grandsons Jared Haynes Carrier, Brian Martin Link, and Robert Nicklaus Link; Great-grandchildren Andrew and Alexis Link and Gavin Link; 14 nieces and nephews and a host of special friends.

The family will receive friends 5:00 -8:00 pm, Sunday, January 20th, at Booker Gilbert Funeral Home,325 West Cedar Street, Franklin, KY. Visitation will also be held 12 noon – 2:00 pm, Monday, January 21st, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 222 Belle Meade Blvd., Nashville with funeral service following at 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary. Interment will follow the service at Harpeth Hills Memorial Gardens in Nashville. Memorial gifts may be made to Central Baptist Theological Seminary, 6601 Monticello Road, Shawnee, KS 66226-3513.
