Clifton Leroy Chittum, a Vietnam War Air Force veteran, died Oct. 9 at his Abingdon home. He was 51. Born in Baltimore, he was the son of Ray Allen and Ethel May Huff Chittum of Baltimore.

He worked as a machine operator for PPG for 34 years. He was a member of the Steel Workers of America and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for 10 years.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Potter Chittum of Abingdon; two daughters, Amy Lassack of Bel Air and Molly Chittum of Abingdon; two brothers, Edwin Chittum and Elwood Chittum.

Services were held Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pikesville with the Rev. David B. Kruse officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery in Freeland. Pallbearers were James Potter, Mark Potter, Neil Potter, Karl Potter, Edwin Chittum and Elwood Chittum. John Lassack and Jeffery Leasure served as honorary pallbearers. Arrangments were by McComas Funeral Home.
