Mrs. McBride Gone Beyond
After being confined to her home for about a month, Mrs. Ada McBride passed out of this life Monday morning. She had been suffering for years with the dreaded white plague, but only within the past few months had it become acute. The best medical attention had been secured for her without avail. She leaves a sorrowing husband, P.J. McBride, and two young children, besides her mother, Mrs. Mullins, who has made her home with her.
Mojave's business places closed during the funeral hour, the services being held at the Catholic church at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Almost the whole town attended to witness the last sad rites, and many from out of town were here to offer their sympathy to the bereaved.
Rev. Father Wanner celebrated mass for the departed and followed with a few words of consolation. During the service Mrs. Ed Monroe and Mrs. Clara Redd sang "Sweet Sacrament" and "Jesus, Lover of My Soul." At the grave they sang "Nearer My God to Thee," as the remains were lowered to their last resting place amid banks of beautiful floral offerings which had been sent by business houses and friends, about twenty-five in all.
The pallbearers were Earl R. Curry, W.L. Sisk, Reece E. Walker, E.A. McFarlane, P.N. Luca and R.B. Galbreath.
Some of those from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Sam Clark of San Diego, Mr. and Mrs. A.H. Pendleton, W.J. Kelly and M. Finnigan of Barstow, and two sisters of charity from Hollywood. Mrs. D. Monroe and family of Cameron, who attended the funeral, took the family of the deceased and other relatives to their mountain home after the burial services, to pass the remainder of the day.
