BLOOMINGTON – Everitt L. Bane, died peacefully at home Saturday January 19, 2013.

He was born August 19, 1931, in Dana, Illinois, the son of Frank and Lillian Bane. He married Mary E. Snavely on November 9, 1952, she preceded him in death. He married Marjorie Goelzer on April 19, 2008. She survives.

Everitt served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He joined the Illinois State Police on November 17, 1957, serving in District 6, Pontiac and District 9, Springfield. He reached the rank of sergeant during his tenure serving District 50 as the Section Director of the Breath Analysis and ISPERN Records Section. Everitt retired on February 28, 1983 after 25 years of service. He enjoyed almost 30 years of retirement.

He also built numerous homes on the side. He was founder and co-owner of BaHa Communications in Springfield, Illinois.

He is known for his sense of humor and for always finding the fun in every situation - he taught the grandchildren his techniques. His family was always top priority. He could fix anything – whenever he was on his way to your house the list was prepared and he was kept happily busy.

Besides his grandchildren, his hobbies included: fishing, target shooting, skeet shooting, motorcycles, bicycling, darts, ping pong, and computers. In early years, he enjoyed boating and home ownership at the Lake of the Ozarks. More recently he has enjoyed winters in Mission, Texas.

Also surviving are his children: Kay (Pat) Bane Collins Pat of Wisconsin, Ronald (Mary Ann) Bane of Texas, Jeffrey (Debbie) Bane, Diana (David) Stauffer and David; his grandchildren: Jennifer (Matt) Knotteck of Cypress, Dani Collins of Wisconsin, Ashley (Mike) Mullins of Texas, Jaci (Andy) McGuire of Florida, Amanda (Tim) Couch of Kansas, Kevin Bane of Maryland, Matthew Bane, Bryan (Kelly) Chesnut, Robert, Chris, and Isaiah Goelzer of West Virginia; Great grandchildren: Emma, Rylee, William and Jade.

He was preceded in death by is first wife and step-son, Paul Goelzer.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Memorial services: Tuesday, 6:00 p.m., January 22, 2013 at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation: One hour prior to the service.

A private celebration of life will be held for the immediate family at a later date.
