Mrs. Emma Heyer, 64, of the family of fisher folk who for decades were residents of the picturesque squatter colony on Jones island, died of a heart attack Wednesday at her home in the town of Lake.
Mrs. Heyer lived on the island, now the site of a municipal harbor and a seweage disposal plant, for 57 years. She and her husband, William, who were divorced in 1940, and their daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Voss, moved off the island last November, leaving a sole "survivor" of the colony, Capt. Felix Struck, 74.
