Uncle Lawrence was born in Magnolia, Texas to Alphonso Hicklin and Marie Baudat Hicklin. He was only 8 years old when his father died, leaving his mother with 6 children to raise. He worked with his older brothers on their vegetable truck farm in Alvin, Texas. He eventually started a dairy on the same farm.
Uncle Lawrence never married and lived on the family farm with his mother until his death. He was always laughing and working hard. He used to go get old bread and rolls from a bakery in Houston for his cows in an old truck. The bread was still edible and he gladly gave it to the needy who would come to the farm.
He died from an aneurysm as did his brothers, sister, and 2 nephews.
