Mrs. Minnie Samson Richards, the daughter of Robert Samson and Ann Marshall his wife, was born Sept. 14, 1858 at Harrison, Wis. She died at Shullsburg March 31, 1919. The funeral took place at 2 o'clock on April 3rd from the Congregational church, pastor Evert officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Richards were united in marriage April 18, 1889 at Hazel Green. To them were born three children, namely, a son named Marshall, who died 11 years ago; Mrs. Pearl Kieren and Miss Effie Richards both of Shullsburg. Besides these daughters, Mr. Richards leaves five brothers, William of Madison, S. Dak., John of Rowan, Ia., Edward of Alexandria, Ia., Thomas of Shullsburg and Lewis of Cuba City, Wis. The surviving grandchildren are Leslie and Guerdon Kieren.
Mrs. Richards leaves two brothers, Robert Samson of Quinter, Kansas, and Marshall Samson, who is in the United States military service at Columbus, Ohio. Three sisters also survive her: Mrs. Annie Wurm of Shullsburg, Mrs. Rebecca Wurm of Kinkyre, N. Dak. and Mrs. Sara Wurm of Shullsburg.
Mr. and Mrs. Richards moved from Hazel Green onto a farm in Seymour township. Owing to poor health of Mr. Richards they sold the farm in 1898 and came to Shullsburg.
