Jasper attended Princeton University (B.A. 1901 and M.S. 1904) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was a chemist and wrote 2 books on the synthetic ammonia industry. He started his career with the Arlington Company of Newark, New Jersey. Arlington was an early plastics manufacturer that was acquired by E.I. duPont de Nemours & Co., in 1915. Jasper became head of duPont's Cellulose Division. From 1920 to 1926 he managed duPont's London office. In 1926 became head of Lazote, Inc., which in 1929 became the duPont Ammonia Corp. He was made a director in 1927 and a vice president and member of the Executive Committee in 1929. He retired in 1946.
Jasper, a prominent Presbyterian layman, was a trustee of both Princeton University and the Princeton Theological Seminary. He founded the Curran Foundation to advance conservative principles in education.
Jasper collected manuscripts, correspondence, documents, and other related material of President James Madison and his wife Dolley Madison. His extensive collection is now housed at Princeton University.
