David Allen Fields was born in St. Helens, Oregon to Jack and Kie Fields on October 3, 1963. He spent his entire life in St. Helens, and graduated in the class of 1982.

Following high school he spent time logging for John Allen Logging, and then took a job as a warehouseman for Napa Auto Parts that lasted for over 15 years. Everywhere Dave went he made friends. The same is true when he joined Armstrong World Industries and worked for them for over 5 years. He always loved to cook great food for his friends and family, but it wasn't until 2009 he found his true calling in life. With his wife, he obtained the Yankton Store and Restaurant and turned an unknown small country store into a thriving restaurant that people would drive for miles to eat at. Dave was well known for his homemade soups, chili, ribs, and especially his jerky.

In his spare time Dave enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors and liked to take country drives through the woods just to be outdoors. In the fall and winter months he enjoyed picking Chanterelle mushrooms, clam digging, and crabbing at the beach. During the spring and summer months he also loved fishing and picking fruits and berries for canning.

David was a Jehovah's Witness, and had a strong faith in God and enjoyed debating biblical theories with friends.

Sadly David passed away on Sunday January 6, 2013, of natural causes; he was only 49 years old. David is survived by his wife, Mel Fields, of St. Helens; parents Jack Sr. and Kie Fields, of St. Helens; his son Cameron Fields of St. Helens; daughters Kelsea Fields Sully of Longview, Washington, and Tiara Fields of Columbia City; step-son Michael Vergara; sisters Robin Motherway, of St. Helens and Melody Fields, of Vancouver, Wash.; brothers Jack Fields Jr., of St. Helens and Cory Fields of Beaverton; and grandchildren Carter, Olivia and Sophia Sully, all of Longview.
