She was born December 20, 1923 in Bascom, Ohio the daughter of John and Sarah (Schultz) Myers and graduated from high school in Republic, Ohio.
During World War II, Doris served in the WACS.
She was employed as a cabin servicer by Delta Airlines at Detroit Metro Airport until her retirement.
On December 1, 1945, Doris married Gerard W. Gauthier in Detroit, Michigan. They lived in Dearborn Heights for many years and moved to the Manistique area in 1979 following their retirements. They then moved to Henderson, Nevada in 1999. Gerard preceded her in death on August 4, 2012.
She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Manistique, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary in Munising, and the Indian Lake Golf and Country Club. She loved to read and garden.
Doris is survived by her daughter, Pennie (Peter) Robare of Henderson, NV; grandchildren, Michelle Dawson of Taylor, MI and Matthew Robare of Dearborn Hts.; sisters, Edith Smith of Henderson, NV, Beatrice Flood of Attica, OH, Wanda Bohlin of Tiffin, OH and Barbara Rotruck of Genoa, OH; along with nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Helen (William) Dawson; her grandson, Jeffrey Dawson; her brothers, John, Paul and Daryl Myers; and her sisters, Gladys Cook, Lola Crowley, Evelyn LaFountain, Lucille Dundore, Lillian Runion and Clara Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the spring at St. Francis de Sales Church in Manistique. Burial will be in the New Garden Cemetery.
