Representative from Ohio and physician. Member of the State House of Representatives in 1842, 1843, 1845 and 1846; served in the State senate 1846-1848; elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-first, second and third Congresses. He was arrested for disloyalty and imprisoned in Fort Lafayette in 1862, but was elected a member of the State House of Representatives while a prisoner. Upon his release, he served in this position from 1862-1866.
