Glenn Leland Converse, the son of Willard Baxter Converse and Loretta Anna Wardlaw, was a geophysicist with the U.S. Dept. of the Interior, Geological Survey.

Glenn was married three times:
1) 1958, Cynthia Hensley; two daughters
2) 1967, Reiko Yonogi; one son
3) 1974, April Miller; no children

Glenn and William W. Hooker were killed by an ice avalanche while attempting the ascent of Mt. Huandoy, the second-tallest peak of the Cordillera Blanca section of the Andes, in Peru. Their remains were never recovered.

There is a memorial marker affixed to a large boulder in Castle Rock State Park, Santa Cruz County, CA which reads:

Goat Rock Overlook
In Memory Of William W. Hooker
and
