Bertha Clara Smith, the only daughter of Fred and Emily Smith, was born November 3, 1882, in Chicago, Illinois. She grew to young womanhood there, attending the Lutheran Church with her parents. She studied the requred course of the church and was confirmed in the church during her youth. She came to Colorado in the early ninteen hundreds.
On November 11, 1913 , Bertha Clara Smith was married to Frank L. Shively of Vernon, Co. On a homstead 21 miles southwest of Wray she lived the life oa a pioneer woman.
In 1946 she married B.G. Baird of Lewellen, Nebraska. They made their home in Nebraska until 1955 when they moved to Wray. Mrs. Baird was widowed in 1957.
Mrs. Baird died on Monday evening November 4, 1957 a put aside the burdens of this life at the age of 75 years and 1 day old.She married Frank Leroy Shively in 1913 and they divorced between 1930 - 1940. Frank was married previously to Ada (Wilson) Shively who died in 1912.

Frank is divorced in 1940 census with a housekeeper in his home.
