KINGSTON -
Ruth Audrey Shirk, 94, of Kingston, formerly of Milton, Lewisburg and Dallas, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, at ManorCare, Kingston.
She was born Aug. 9, 1915, in Northumberland, a daughter of the late Malcolm E. and Pauline (Fisher) Hannon. On Jan. 30, 1937, in Frederick, Md., she was united in marriage to Neal Franklin Shirk, who passed away on Sept. 9, 1977.
Ruth was a graduate of Northumberland High School.
She was employed as an executive secretary at Philco/Ford, Watsontown.
Ruth was a former member of First Presbyterian Church, Lewisburg.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Neal R. and Helen Shirk, of New Cumberland; one daughter, Judith A. Miller, of West Pittston; one brother and sister-in-law, Malcolm E. and Arlene Hannon, of Arlington, Va.; nine grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia A. Zellers; a devoted companion, Dr. Robert M. Bastress, of Selinsgrove; three sisters, Dorothy E. Buss, Mary H. Weidner and Etta M. Hannon; and one grandson, Adam Miller.
Visitors will be received by the family from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Schwartz-Adamo Funeral and Cremation Services, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, where the funeral will follow at 2 with Robert Kribbs, certified lay pastor of the Northumberland Presbytery, officiating.
Burial will be in Hartleton Cemetery, Hartley Township, Union County.
