CASH WINSTON-SALEM Norman Hall "Norm" Cash March 4, 1938 - Jan. 22, 2013 Mr. Norman Hall Cash, known to his family and friends simply as "Norm", passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center at the age of 74. Mr. Cash, born on March 4, 1938 to David C. Cash and Louise Hall, lived a life devoted to family, friends and service. Beyond his love for his family and friends, he will be best remembered for the many lasting contributions he and his friends made to the Pfafftown and Old Town communities in which he lived for over 50 years. Cash, a charter member of the 1965 Pfafftown Jaycees, served as Secretary-Treasurer during the club's first year and served as President in 1966 when the organization earned recognition as the Outstanding Jaycee Chapter in the United States. Working with his many Jaycee and neighborhood friends, he helped leave a lasting legacy through projects such as the development of the West Central Community Center and founding of the Pfafftown Tiny Packers where he was known for many years as the "Voice of the Packers". In 1969 he was quoted as saying, "If there's a challenge to be met, I like to meet it." Beyond his love of the community, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Rarely did he miss a sporting event or performance if it involved one of his kids or grandchildren. In recent years, he and his wife of 53 years, JoAnn, enjoyed traveling with friends, spending time with their kids and four grandchildren and sharing in the fellowship of Christ's love through their many friends at Pinedale Christian Church. Mr. Cash is survived by his wife, JoAnn; a daughter, Kelly and her husband Jay Landreth of Pfafftown, and their children Sydney and Samantha; a son, Chris and his wife Pam of Winston-Salem, and their children, Catie and Courtney; a brother-in-law, Grady Fulk of Pfafftown; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Cash was preceded in death by his father, David; his stepmother, Ruby Crews Cash; and his brother Richard "Dickie" Cash. A service of celebration will be held at Pinedale Christian Church on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Bob McCaskill and the Rev. Bill McKenzie officiating. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pinedale Christian Church, 3395 Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
