Lelia Sylvia Allen, 79, of Tyro, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 at Lovingston Health Care Center. Born in Nelson County, June 17, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Nettie Lawhorne.
She is survived by sons, Alfred Allen (Tonya) of Roseland, and Paul Allen (Susie) of Tyro; daughters, Janet Fitzgerald of Roseland, Wilma Lawhorne and Donna Allen (Melvin), both of Tyro; sisters, Rachel Lawhorne of Roseland, Eva Mays of Shipman, Lorraine Lawhorne of Tyro and Inez Mays of Lovingston; devoted sister-in-law, Bessie Lawhorne; six grandchildren, Trampas Allen, Jacob Allen, Joshua Mays, Travis Fitzgerald, Regina Campbell and Brittany Wood and six great-grandchildren, Andie Mays, Addison Mays, Nick Campbell, Taylor Campbell, Dakota Wood and Karleigh Wood.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lester Allen and brothers, Charles Alexander Lawhorne and George Lawhorne.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home by the Rev. Bill Aikens with burial to follow in The Lawhorne Family Cemetery. The family received friends Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home.
