The Clinton Herald Thursday December 24, 1915 p. 8 Mr. and Mrs. James Doran of this city have returned from Millville, Minn., where they attended the funeral of Mrs. Doran's brother, the late M. J. Muldoon. Mr. Muldoon formerly was engaged in business in this city and will be remembered by many old friends. The Millville Review published the following in refernece to the deceased: M.J. Muldoon, one of Hammond's most prominent business men passed away at his home in that village late Tuesday evening death being due to heart failure. He had suffered at various times from heart trouble during the past year, but his last illness lasted only about a week. The deceased was born in Ireland May 9, 1848, and came here with his parents when two years of age. His first home in America was at Lyons, Iowa, where he lived with his parents until 1873. A few years later he came to Hammond, and on April 12, 1887 was married to Miss Minla York, who survives him. When he first came to Hammond he was employed as engineer in a grain elevator, owned by H.G. O'Neil company, later assuming charge of the business, which he conducted sucessfully for twenty years. Later he conducted a retail hardware business, which he disposed of, and during the past few years has been engaged in handling real estate. Being of a thrifty disposition he was able to take advantage of such opportunities as were offered, with the result that he was possessed of a fair share of this world's goods. The deceased was a true adn devoted husband, and was highly esteemed and admired for his honesty and integrity as well as for his kindly nature. His loss will be deeply felt by a great many friends, as well as the family. Besides his sorrowing wife, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. James Doran of Lyons, Iowa. The funeral was held this morning at 10:30, requiem mass being held at St. Clements church, Hammond. Rev. Father Mueller officiating. The body was laid to rest in St. Clements cemetery.
