Mr. Vogel was born in Whitelaw, Manitowoc County, on July 10, 1868, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vogel. He attended school at Clarks Mills, and was married to Miss Frances Reif at Holy Name Catholic Church, Sheboygan, on May 29, 1893.
For several years he operated a farm. Thirty-two years ago he moved to Chilton and for a time operated a milk collection route. He then worked several years for the Carnation Milk plant at Chilton for 19 years, to his retirement two years ago, was employed by the Aluminum Co. at Chilton. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Chilton.
Survivors include his wife; nine children, Mrs. Charles Luchterhand, Miss Agnes Vogel, Frank, Sylvester and Herbert Vogel, all of Chilton, Mrs. Frances Berry of Milwaukee, Mrs. Leonard McMunn, George Vogel and Mrs. Edgar (Bernice) Depies, all of New Holstein; 38 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two brothers, Frank of Algoma and Charles of Sheboygan; one step-brother, Louis Zipper of Whitelaw; and three sisters, Sr. Cajetan of Holy Name Convent at Milwaukee, Mrs. Mary Sigman of Madras, Ore., and Mrs. Frank Reimer of Greenville, Wis.
Two sons, one brother and one step-sister preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Bartelme, pastor, will be celebrant of the solemn requiem high mass.
