Son of Leonard Covington Wales (1799-1870) and Elizabeth Daugherty (1810-1890). These parents moved to Appanoose Co., IA. This boy was a twin to John Tyler Wales--the babies were named for the (winning!) Whig candidates for President and Vice President in that year's election. John Tyler Wales died in Decatur Co., KS, in 1912.
