Anamosa Eureka (Anamosa, IA), Aug. 27, 1936:
"Mrs. Sherman Taken By Death.
Former Resident Passes Away in California In Her Ninety-fourth Year.
   The death of this former esteemed resident of Anamosa occurred at Glendale, Calif., on August 20, 1936. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church at Orange on the afternoon of the 22nd. Interment was in the family lot in Fairhaven cemetery with the Eastern Star in charge.
   Augusta Mitchell was born at Woodstock, Vermont, November 28, 1842. At the age of two years she removed with her family to Castle Grove in Jones county. On March 30, 1864, she was married to Oscar Sherman at Langworthy. In 1865 they took up residence in Anamosa which continued to be their home until 1916, when they located in Orange, Calif. They had three children, Gertie J., Grace and Buel M., all now deceased. Mr. Sherman died at Orange in 1924.
   Mrs. Sherman is survived by a sister, Mrs. S. Anna Clark, San Antonio, Texas; a half-sister, Mrs. E. M. Hanna, Central City, Iowa; also three nieces, Mrs. Emma Carter Anderson, San Antonio, Texas; Mrs. Alta Carter James, Glendale, Calif., and Miss Bess Swan, San Francisco, Calif.
   Mrs. Sherman had a sunny disposition that endeared her to all who knew her. Though laid aside these past few years by failing mind and body she still kept a smiling face. The esteem in which she was held was attested by the goodly number of friends and neighbors who gathered a the funeral services and by the many beautiful floral offerings."

Note: The article says Fairhaven cemetery, which borders Santa Ana Cemetery. The Shermans are definitely in Santa Ana Cemetery.
