SOMERS, Conn. - Charles E. Cheney, 64, of Washington Rd., Brimfield, Mass., formerly of Turnpike Rd., Somers, died suddenly Thursday at Wing Memorial Hospital in Palmer, Mass. He was born in Barnet, Vt., May 2, 1898, son of Mary (Landry) Cheney and the late Joseph Cheney. He had been a resident of Somers for ten years before moving to Brimfield 1 1/2 years ago where he managed the Pilch chicken farm. He was a veteran of World War I in the Navy. Besides his mother of West Thornton, N.H., he leaves his wife, Georgia (Wheelock) Cheney of Brimfield; three sons, Donald of Somers, Wayne R. of Rockville, and Dale F. of Springfield, Mass.; three daughters, Mrs. Robert Avery of Manchester, Mrs. Paul Hurteau of East Hartford, and Joyce Cheney, at home; one brother, Alfred J., of West Thornton, N.H., and 12 grandchildren. The funeral will be held from the Somers funeral home Sunday at 2, with Rev. Peter Young officiating. Burial will be in the West Cemetery, Somers. Calling hours at the funeral home are tonight from 7 to 9 and Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

SOMERS, Conn. - The funeral of Charles Cheney, of Washington Rd., Brimfield, formerly of Somers, was held Sunday afternoon at Somers Funeral Home, with Rev. Peter Young officiating. Military honors were conducted by Buck-Dubiel Post, American Legion. Bearers were John Taylor, Henry Goyette, Jr., Matthew Cote, Ronald Gauvin and Joseph McCaughey. The firing squad consisted of Anthony White, Roger Basterache, Gerald Hebert, James Cowan and Jerry Halpin. Members of the color guard were Edward Labutis, Anthony White, George Gaboury, Richard Patterson. Sergeant-at-Arms was John Landers. Bugular was Raymond Pease. Burial was in West Cemetery.
