His disease was scrofula, followed by pnuemonia and dropsy. Althought ill for some weeks his death was a shock to his friends. In his las hours he asked them to sing to him. The dear child bore his sufferings with patience until his pure spirit took its flight to be among God's jewels.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. Dr. Pope on the 25th, interment in Northwood cemetery. A large number of relatives and friends assembled to sympathize with the bereaved parents, in this sad trial and severe loss. His parents and one little sister survive him.
Dainty casket, white and small, Wet with tears that on it fall;
Dainty sleeper sweet and wee, Hearts must ache because of thee.
Sweet pet lamb whose dainty fleece wears God's shining masks of peace,
Slipped from out our loving hold, Through the shining gates of gold.
To the tender Shepherd's fold. L.M.P.
