Helen was born in Greensburg, Kansas, the daughter of George and Pearl (Lawson) Parkin. A lifetime resident of Kiowa County, Helen graduated from Greensburg High School in 1949. On March 7, 1952, she married Bobby J. Martin. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2009. Helen was a dedicated ranch wife, helping Bob to train cutting horses and was an accomplished horsewoman in her own right. She was also an active member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and secretary of the Kiowa County Gun Club for many years. She is survived by one cousin, three sisters-in-law and fifteen nieces and nephews.
Helen was also preceded in death by her twin brother, John; brother, Henry; and parents, George and Pearl Parkin.
