PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Lt. Cmdr. Kieron George O'Connor, 35, of Burtonsville, Md., died Oct. 28, 1999, after an aviation mishap while flying with the Blue Angels flight demonstration team.

Kieron was a graduate of Paint Branch High School, Class of 1982. He went on to earn his master's degree from Catholic University. Lt. Cmdr. O'Connor was commissioned in the U.S. Navy in November 1988. He served as an F-18 fighter pilot until his selection to the Navy's flight demonstration team in 1988. Lt. Cmdr. O'Connor was No. 3, the left wingman with the Blue Angels during the 1999 show season.

Kieron is survived by his wife, Teri O'Connor; his children, Courtney, John and Kyle O'Connor, all of Pensacola; his parents, Brian and Mary O'Connor of Clarksburg, Md.; brothers Richard, Brian and Christopher O'Connor, all of the Washington, D.C., area; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Glenda Mayfield of Foley, Ala.

Private services will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: O'Connor Children's Trust Fund, 1st Navy Bank, c/o Jim Durr, 180 Taylor Road, Pensacola, FL 32508. Faith Chapel Funeral Home, Pensacola, is in charge.
