He was a graduate of Childress High School. Mr. Copelln received his B.S. and Masters of education degrees from Southwestern State University, Weatherford, Oklahoma. Mr. Copelin worked as a Switchman for the Rock Island Railroad for 21 years retiring in 1969. He was also a school teacher having taught in the El Reno Public School Systems and Concho Indian School and was currently teaching at Capitol Hill High School in OKC. Mr. Copelin was a member of the First Christian Church of El Reno where he served as an Elder. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife Gloria of the home, son Kevan Copelin and his wife Doreen of Brenham, TX, daughter Cynthia Maune of El Reno, sister Thelma Peret of Odessa, TX, 5 grandchildren.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec 31 in the First Christian Church of El Reno. Rev. Pat Sutherlin, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the El Reno Cemetery. Services under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home, El Reno. The family suggests memorials be made to the First Christian Church, 400 S. Barker El Reno 73036.
