He was born in Louisville on January 10, 1909, the son of Harvey and Ruth Threwitt Markley. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church in Farina.
On March 2, 1932, in Effingham, he married Olive Starkey. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald Markley; grandson, Curtis Markley; sister, Louise; and brother, Bill Markley.
Survivors include his wife, Olive, of Farina; two sons, Kenneth (Virginia) Markley of Springdale, Arkansas and John Markley of Farina; one daughter, Sue (Jack) Lemonds of Kennett, Missouri; two brothers, Ivan Markley of Kankakee and Loren Markley of Lomita, California; three sisters, Ida Dawson of Lovington, and Nina Smith and Nona Scott, both of Kankakee; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Rankin Chapel in Farina. Burial was in Farina Cemetery.
