Mrs. Alice E. (Goodwin) McGrath, widow of the late James H. McGrath, died on Sunday at her late residence, 145 Broadway. She had been in ill health for several months, but had been seriously sick only a few days. She was born in Taunton, the daughter of Thomas and Katherine Goodwin, and had resided in this city all her life. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and a member of the Rosary and Scapular Society of that church. She leaves one daughter, Mary E. McGrath; three sons, Thomas P., Francis H., and Dr. James H., the last named of Stoughton; two brothers, James T. Goodwin of Taunton and Thomas Goodwin of Simsbury, Connecticut; and two sisters, Mary Goodwin of Taunton and Mrs. Rose Coyle of Providence. Mrs. McGrath was a woman of true motherly nature who was ever solicitous for the welfare of others and was ever ready to lend a helping hand to those in distress or illness. She took particular pride in her home and family and always deemed it a duty to share the responsibilities of her neighbors and friends. She bore her last illness with the true Christian fortitude which marked her life.
