Norman W. Canaday, age 82, of Council Bluffs, born May 23, 1926, son of the late George and Helen Canaday passed away May 25, 2008, peacefully at home with his family. Norman graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the class of 1944. With honor he served his country in the United States 13th Army Air Force. Norm was a member of 3M's National Sales Advisory Board; Round Table five consecutive years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed golfing and flying model airplanes. Norm was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Ann and his brother, Gerald. He was a member of the New Horizon Presbyterian Church. Norman was devoted to his wife and his family. He and his wife Millie (Horn) celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last December 31st of 2007. To this union three daughters were born: Carol, Diana and Sharon. Norman is survived by his loving wife, Millie, of Council Bluffs; daughters, Diana Schwenk, Sharon Porter and husband, Terry, all of Omaha; grandchildren, Scott and Sara Porter of Council Bluffs, Julie and Jon Burton, Michael and Sarah Porter, David and Courtney Schwenk, Mark and Sebrina Schwenk, John and Jennifer Whyte, Christine and Kane Kuhn, Rebecca Focheck, all of Omaha, Angela and Micah Kelln of Laramie, Wyo.; 18 great grandchildren; half brother, Bruce Canaday, of Council Bluffs.
Norman's wishes were to be cremated. Prayer service, Wednesday, 6:30 p.m. followed by visitation with the family until 8:30 p.m. at Cutler-O'Neill-Meyer-Woodring Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Masters and Chaplain Frank Fast will officiate. Memorials to New Horizon Presbyterian Church or Hospice with Heart.
