Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter-day Saints on East Morton Avenue, in Porterville for Opal I. Blackburn, 88, of Porterville.
Mrs. Blackburn died Monday in Porterville.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Myers Chapel and 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at the church on East Morton Avenue.

A native of Almo, Idaho, Mrs. Blackburn was a resident of Porterville for 54 years. She was a homemaker for 69 years, a member of the church and the Porterville Senior Citizens group.

She is survived by four sons, Alva "Bud" of Pennsylvania, Bill of Lihue, Hawaii, and Bob and Tom Blackburn, both of Porterville; six daughters, Jean Durtschi of Logan, Utah, Veva Reeves of San Diego, Betty Kanaday of Bakersfield, Anita "Deda" Robins of Eden, Utah, Marilyn Higham of Logan, and Linda Mauldin of Japan; 59 grandchildren; 130 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George "Al" Blackburn in 1985. Porterville Recorder, Nov. 13, 1995
