OBITUARY :
MRS. MARGARET C. (BARNHART) BINGAMAN, 96, a resident of Quincy Village and formerly of Greencastle, PA, died at 8:50 P.M., Monday, January 28, 2013 in the nursing home. She had been in failing health for the past month.

Born April 15, 1916 in Bino, PA, she was the daughter of the late William A. and Nora M. (Provard) Barnhart.

In her early years, Mrs. Bingaman worked at a dress factory in Greencastle. She later worked at the Waynesboro Hospital, however, she was a homemaker most of her life.

She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church, Greencastle.

Mrs. Bingaman enjoyed reading and sharing her books; collecting glass slippers, Hummel cups and saucers, salt and pepper shakers, bells, and figurines; and was given hundreds of cat items over the years. Christmas was her favorite time of the year and she would purchase hundreds of gifts for family and friends. In the 1950's she would dress as Santa Claus and her first husband would take her miles around her home and she would walk house to house and give small gifts, fruit, or candy from her big bag. She would also send hundreds of cards for birthdays, anniversaries, and most holidays. She was also known to take many children to church who would not have been attending anywhere.

She is survived by two step-children, Lloyd Bingaman and his wife Linda, and Patsy Peiffer and her husband John, all of Greencastle; her step daughter in law, Nancy Bingaman of Greencastle; several step grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wilbur E. Barnhart and his wife, Othelia of Greencastle and Howard "Bunk" Barnhart and his wife Doris of Chambersburg; and 21 nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Glenn C. Weidner who died in 1963; her second husband, John Bingaman who died in 1990; one infant son, William Clayton Weidner who died in 1940; one step-son, Robert Bingaman; four brothers, Kenneth Barnhart, Clifford Barnhart, Sam E. Barnhart, Sr., and Bernard Barnhart; one sister, infant Lovesse E. Barnhart ; and one nephew, Kenneth Barnhart, Jr.
