Mother of Wine Makers Ernest (1909-2007),Julio (1910-1993), and Joseph(1919-2007) Gallo. Wife of Joseph Sr.(1883-1933). Mrs. Gallo was found laying in a field with a gun shot wound to the back of the head at their home near Fresno, California, on June 21, 1933. It appeared to be a murder suicide. Mr. Gallo killing his wife and then turning the gun on himself. Susie was often mis-treated by her husband, but it was still a suprise. Doubts about what happened are in dispute to this day. There has always been speculation that Ernest and Julio were involved, but nothing ever came of it. Mrs. Gallo was only 46 years old.
