James E. Hayes, 74, of Scottown, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Sunday October 31, 2004 in St. Marys Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Wednesday November 3, 2004 at Greasy Ridge Church of Christ by Minister Barry Kelly. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens Miller, Ohio. He was born February 18, 1930 in Scottown, Ohio to the late Med and Minerva Harper Hayes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson Roger Ray Rucker Jr., three brothers Emerson, Ben, and William Hayes; and one sister Dorothy Thacker. He was a lifelong member of Proctorville VFW Post #6878 and a Korean War Veteran. He was a member of Greasy Ridge Church of Christ and was former owner of Jims Termite and Pest Control. He was also retired from Fairland High School. He is survived by his wife Patricia Singer Hayes; four sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Rachel Huff of Augier, N.C., James and Debbie Hayes of Scottown, Ohio, Bill and Sonja Hayes of Proctorville, and John Hayes of Scottown; three daughters and sons-in-law Nerva Hessler of Proctorville, Patty and Roger Rucker of Scottown, and Marie and Kevin Malavenda of Chesapeake, Ohio; one sister Darlene Hayes of Scottown; several grandchildren J.J. Hessler, Donny Hessler, Samantha Hayes, Lisa Hayes, D.L. Burks, Jasmine Hayes, Bridget Hayes, Chris Huff, Elizabeth Huff, Nick Malavenda, Wesley Malavenda, Johnny Ray Rucker; one great grandchild Noah Hessler; and several nieces and nephews.
