Eleanor June Flowers, 77, Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the Monterey Park Nursing Center, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Mrs. Flowers was born October 2, 1931 to Elmer and Cynthia (Smith) Sutton in Denver, CO and had lived in the Independence area most of her life. Eleanor was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother who was always happiest when helping family and friends. She was a member of South Chrysler Restoration Branch and attended church services at the nursing center given by South Chrysler and Blue Springs Restoration Branches. Her faith kept her strong through her debilitating illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Flowers on March 8, 2005. She is survived by a son, Gary Flowers and wife Patricia of Cleburne, TX; three daughters, Vickie Bear of Independence, Connie Wellman of Lee’s Summit, Melody Gant and husband Roger of Lee’s Summit; 17 grandchildren, Shawn and Yana Jones, Jason and Mischelle Dye, Angela and Mike Flack, Kelly and Arthur Rose, Jeremy Flowers, Hannah and Heather Deane, Brett and Amber Wellman, Kristen Wellman, Tara and Dan Scott and Trisha Bolas; 16 great grandchildren, Austin, Kale and Mya Jones, Tucker and Haley Dye, Wesley Cooper, Alexis and Kennedy Flack, James Flowers, Courtney and Alec Rose, Aliah Gomez, Kyla Nicole Kelly-Uehling, Peyton Uehling, Cheyenne Scott and MaKenzie Moffett; two sisters, Elaine Covington of Limon, CO and Clarice Poplett of Grand Junction, CO; and a brother John Sutton of Pittstown, NJ.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 10:00 AM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Burial at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 6:00-7:30 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Eleanor requested donations to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
