BEDFORD -- Harold J. Hawkins, 70, died Aug. 23, 2003, at his home after a long illness.
He was born in Waterbury, Conn., on Feb. 3, 1933, and was the son of Henry and Mable (Simpson) Hawkins.
Mr. Hawkins was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. In 1954 he received a BS in civil engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
He worked for more than 30 years at Carter Pile Driving Company of Natick, Mass.
He was a member of the Foundation and Marine Contractors Association of N.E. Inc., and was recently appointed to the board of trustees of Local 56 Pile Drivers Union.
Mr. Hawkins was an avid gardener and woodworker. He loved to take long car rides, and traveled the world. He enjoyed all sports, especially the Red Sox.
Family members include his wife of 44 years, Judea (Bergeski) Hawkins; two daughters, Mrs. Mark (Cynthia) Baldwin of Londonderry and Monique Hawkins of Arlington, Mass.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Marge Evans and Patricia Trembly, both of Connecticut.
SERVICES: Services will be private. Encrypment will be in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
