After serving his country as a sailor during WWII he joined the Carpenter's Local Union #770 where he was a member for 60 years. During this time he served the Central Labor Council, Apprenticeship Committee, taught apprenticeship classes, was recording secretary, business agent and served on numerous committees. He was a frequent convention delegate and was president of the Local for many years.
