Mr. King was found dead of a heart attack Saturday in his southeast Portland home. He was 80.
He was born April 14, 1912, in Asor, Saskatchewan, but spent most of his life in the Portland area. Mr. King worked as a carpenter for 50 years and was a member of Carpenter's Union Local 583. He married Gladys E. Zinzer-Bennett in 1983 in Portland. She died in 1990.
Survivors include his son, Ray E. "Buster" Bennett of Portland; stepson Jack O'Leary of Birmingham, Ala., brothers, Anthony King, Gabe Stark and Alex Stark, all of Portland; sisters, Kathy Lovegrove of Sisters and Rose Grover, Mary Clevinger and Elizabeth Potts, all of Portland; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
