James Theodore Evans was born November 11, 1911 in Louin, Mississippi to Leon and Oma (Milner) Evans. Survivors include siblings, William Evans of Greensville, Mississippi, leon Evans of Abilene, Texas, Lamar Evans of Bay Springs, Mississippi, Tom Evans of Sacramento, California, John Evans of Texas City, Texas and Etta Riley of Crestview, Florida.
He married Dorothy Holt in 1953; she died in 1982.
Mr. Evans was a retired bridgeman for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. He was a member of Westside Church of God, Brotherhood of Maintenance Way and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 71. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Evans died at the age of 76 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Marion.
