Chester A. Traxler, age 95, of Whitewater, WI, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at the Sylvan Crossings, in Jefferson, WI. Chester was born in Lintner, IL, on July 21, 1913, a son of Charles and Lulu (Green) Traxler. He graduated from Whitewater College High School and from Whitewater State Teachers College. Chester worked as a chemist for Hawthorne Melody Dairy in Whitewater. On Sept. 7, 1937, Chester married Elva B. Klug in Cold Spring, WI. Elva preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 2002. Chester was a longtime member of the Whitewater horse shoe league.
Surviving are: daughter, Shirlene (LaVerne) Meyer of Fort Atkinson, WI, son, Charles Traxler of Rodondo Beach, CA, daughter, Marian (Gary) Coates of Lake Mills, WI, son, Fred (Alice) Traxler of Milwaukee, WI and son, Bruce (Joyce) Traxler of Whitewater, WI; nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Chester was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; two sisters; a grandson, Jeff; a granddaughter, Kim; and a great-grandchild, Wyatt.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a. m. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, at the NITARDY FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, Whitewater, with Chaplain Shannon Finger officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Palmyra, WI. Friends may call after 9:30 a. m. on Friday at the NITARDY FUNERAL HOME, Whitewater, until the services.
