Johnny was born and raised in Paint Rock Valley, Alabama, and later became a resident of Huntsville, Alabama. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps, a member of the American Legion Post 237 for 28 years, a patron of Fraternal Order of Eagles, and a member of Foreign Wars of the United States Post 2702 (the Elite Team). Johnny was appointed Deputy Sheriff of Jackson County in 1991.
Surviving relatives include: wife Linda Carden, sister Lenice Petri, daughters Johnnie Lynn Carden and Gwen Carden Barnes, and grandchildren Christine Lynn Rohaly, Austin Lee Southworth, Joseph Devin Stockton, and Caden Lee Stockton.
Visitation will be held at Spry Funeral Home off North Pkwy on Sunday from 4 PM to 6 PM. A memorial service will be at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Hollytree, Jackson County on Monday at 1 PM, followed by burial in Clay Cemetery in Princeton, Jackson County.
